So I'm obsessed with essential oils. If you've been around, you'll already know it. I got started with oils because when I had my first baby I was just trying to clean up under my counters. Under our kitchen sink and bathroom had tons of cleaners and things that would warrant a call to poison control if consumed. I didn't want to have to lock up everything in my house because I knew at some point I would forget. My son was just starting to crawl and I was slowly dipping my toe in the natural world. I decided to make my own cleaners with vinegar and water. But my house smelled like salad LOL. I looked online and went to the store and got some essential oils to use with my cleaners. They helped.
Fast forward, I was pregnant with my second. I was waking up in the middle of the night to pee and having a hard time going back to sleep. My friend suggested I use lavender on my feet. I went up to grab the lavender from my cabinet, the lavender I was cleaning with. I saw the bottle, it said "don't apply to skin, aromatherapy use only." Huh, is this not what I thought it was. I went back to my friend. She suggested Young Living. I found someone at church to sell me a bottle of Young Living Lavender. I brought it home and that night when I woke up at 3am, my husband rubbed it on my feet. I was SOLD.
I kept getting bottle after bottle from my friend at church. When ever I researched and figured out one I wanted, I came and asked her to order it for me. We got bottle after bottle. Then one day I realized I could buy a "kit" with a diffuser and 11 oils to try. I wanted it. I was really excited because I wanted my own account more than anything. It's super weird telling someone.. well I want this oil for this weird thing .... it started to get pretty personal LOL. It was July of 2014 when I got my kit and my own account.
By then I knew Young Living was the best. That the store oils weren't that great and not labeled very well. Even though they say "pure" it doesn't necessarily mean it's only essential oils. And that the quality of plans, distillation, etc was just not the same as Young Living. Once you start researching, you know that you won't put anything else but Young Living on your kids. We kept getting more natural as we kept having kids. We would go through our products and replace them with more natural ones, or figure out a way to make DIY versions with our oils. My husband has always been on board and he loves ditching and switching our things to natural. My parents have labeled us "hippies". And you know what? I'm ok with that, ha ha.
Anyway, we have had so many successes with oils that I haven't been able to stop talking about them. I have had a lot of my friends jump on board with oils and now I have this really awesome team of 470 and counting. It is totally awesome and so inspiring to have a community full of people who are ditching toxins, having fun, and making tons of awesome stuff. It has been a big blessing to my family. Getting my starter kit has been one of my favorite purchases I have ever made. Not only because of the oils, but because of the amazing people, community and business.
I hope my story makes you excited to put your toe in the water, or even jump in to the deep end. We would love to have you on this journey of ours. Click here if you want to see the starter kit!
